About Noble Woodworking

Noble Woodworking, established late in 2020, began as a hobby for Todd Rice.  Todd, a lifelong resident of Northern Minnesota, is an avid outdoorsman with a love of nature.  Working with wood in the construction field out of high school, Todd has a passion for creating.  Starting out as a builder, he developed a skill for furniture/cabinet making, and now woodturning.  He enjoys “hunting” for his next turning blank in the woods.  What he does not acquire locally, is purchased from vendors who supply legally harvested exotic and domestic wood.  Friends and family have helped provide material, calling when they have a recently harvested tree or have discovered a burl!

Todd is a retired firefighter/paramedic/fire chief with twenty-three years in Emergency Services,  Diagnosed with PTSD, Todd has turned to his passion for woodworking/woodturning as therapy.

Visualizing the piece as he uses basic tools to hone the finished product is deeply satisfying.  The smell and feel of the wood shavings, concentrating on the visualization of the finished piece, and the comfort and stability of working in his shop, all contribute to a restful state of mind, a feeling so hard for those suffering from PTSD to find.​

Todd, his wife Amy, and their “shop dog” Grizzly, reside in HIbbing, MN.. The Rice’s thank you for your support and hope you enjoy Noble Woodworking’s products as much as Todd has enjoyed creating them!
